Who is the candidate for Thigh/Buttock Lift?

Thigh/Buttock Lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that combines Thigh Lift and Buttock Lift. This procedure works improving the contour of the lower body area, which consists on thighs and buttocks. It is recommended for people who are unsatisfied with their current lower body appearance that might look saggy, flabby or dimpled.

People might be motivated by the interest of having a more attractive appearance or to correct loss of skin elasticity and shape caused by weight loss, aging, hormonal changes or lack of exercise.

Prior to surgery, it is important to be healthy and avoid taking medications that could increase bleeding, such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements. Also, the patient should not have medical conditions that could interfere in the surgery or healing process, preferably be a non-smoker and have realistic expectations about the procedure. [ Top ]

Anesthesia for Thigh/Buttock Lift:

For a Thigh/Buttock Lift, it can be chosen between intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. In case of general Anesthesia, you will sleep through the entire operation. If the option is intravenous sedation, sedatives will be injected to help you relax. The best anesthesia method depends on your individual case and what your doctor is recommending. You will decide with him what is better for you. [ Top ]

Thigh/Buttock Lift Surgery:

A Thigh/Buttock Lift procedure usually takes between three to six hours. The Thigh/Buttock Lift method applied depends on your case and doctor, which may vary due to the amount of skin to be removed and on your body shape.

The incisions are longer than a single Buttock Lift or Thigh Lift. They start in the buttock crease, goes up over the flank and across the back. In the front, the incision goes from the groin to the lower part of the abdomen. The incisions are very similar to a “french bikini”.

After the incisions, the next step is to work on tissues and skin. Excess skin and fat are removed after being detached from thighs muscles. Skin is reshaped and pulled up over the muscles. Drains might be placed in order to remove fluid or blood collected. After that, sutures are placed on the incisions.

Lifting the inner thighs requires only short incisions extending from the anterior part of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease.

Lateral or anterior thigh lifts can be performed as separate procedures if desired.

Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (circumferential lower body lift) will require much longer incisions that start in the buttock crease, extend around the groin, up over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and across the back.

The buttocks can be lifted with upper or lower scars. [ Top ]

Recovery fro Thigh/Buttock Lift:

Right after the Thigh/Buttock Lift procedure, a dressing is applied and also a compression garment, in order to reduce swelling and bruising during healing process. The compression garment also helps ensuring Thigh/Buttock Lift results.
The post-operative might be more painful to some people; however, it depends on each person. Pain is usually relieved through prescribed medications. The patient should avoid sitting down for a few days and also should sleep face down for about a week.
Bruising and swelling usually subsides a month after surgery. Complete healing may take between 6 months and up to a year to be achieved. It is important to wait a few months before you can go back to your full routine. Exercising may take up to three months to be fully practiced. [ Top ]

Other options for Thigh/Buttock Lift:

Additional procedures that may enhance the result include Liposuction/Liposculpture, Breast Enlargement and Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty). [ Top ]
